advice/experience with the 1849 Rifleman's Knife - Tuesday, November 21, 2017 1:07 AM ( #1 )
I have the chance to buy a CS 1849 Rifleman's Knife for AUD$150 brand new shipped (about $100 cheaper than the one's I can get here in Australia, and is a design I really like) and was wondering if anyone on the forum has one and can give me their thoughts (the good, the bad and the ugly)?  I also have a question, these are spear pointed but single edge right, with no swedge (sharpened back edge)?

Thanks for that vid mate, though I have already seen it (it seems to be one of the only vids out there about this particular knife) I am going to buy it, looks like a fantastic knife for the price.

I haven't got that one yet, but it does look nice. I think it's made by Windlass Steelcrafts, at least from the looks of it and the sheath. If the 1917 frontier bowie is any indication of quality, this one should be good as well. Let us know what you think when you get it.

I bought one today, should be to me mid December, and yes I will let you know my thought's. It looks like a winner and at the price I paid for it (AUD$150 posted) it was an absolute steal. I personally don't like the looks of the 1917, clip points just don't do it for me and was much to do with going this way instead.

The video says that it did not come "sharp?" Any thoughts on that? All of my CS purchases have been razors right out of the box. Except my Gen I Gladius Machete. Wave Man - did you have the same experience? Also, did you have the same problem with the scratching on the guard? ThankS!

It still hasn't turned up  (expecting it any day now), but from experience I am the same as you Pilus, all my CS knives have turned up sharp except some of the machete's.

As soon as it turns up I will give my evaluation.

arrived today, a beast and everything I hoped and wanted. It didn't come as sharp as other CS products (but was far from dull) I have bought, but that is rectified now with a few passes on the SharpMaker.
