It would probably make sense if they did. Consolidation of resources and everything...

CS is not a pepper spray company, and it is possible there are other companies who are dedicated to only pepper spray, and they may have a better product than Cold Steel.

Cold Steel would profit more by shutting down Inferno production, and instead focusing on producing knives and other bladed tools. They would be able to concentrate more on what they are best at. They are consolidating resources such as employees and production costs to more profitable areas.

I disagree. Cold Steel has been a Pepper Spray company for years. Saber Red, Fox Labs, and Inferno have been considered the top three on the market for a long time.

The problem with Inferno, as it is with their knives, is that very few stores carry Cold Steel products.

I'm sad to see it go, as I've been carrying Inferno for years.

A company that makes pepper spray and a pepper spray company are completely different, in my opinion.  The website says Cold Steel Knives.

I would not consider Cold Steel a sunglasses company, even if they make sunglasses.

I thought about getting that stuff but never got around to it. Too busy buying their knives.

Unfortunately Inferno was never officially imported to Germany because of legal reasons (no official declaration as animal defence spray).

They made an Inferno DVD a few years ago. Excellent product, sad to see it go. Given a choice I'd rather spray a bad guy with Inferno than have to cut them with a knife. Anybody know the actual reason why it's being discontinued?

a lot of products are being discontinued because the packaging is changing but the item will continue in new packaging. That being said I don't see it on my discontinues list but I don't see it on the 2016 pricing list either so ????

It might be getting tougher for them to make it worth selling. There are a number of states where Inferno isn't legal to ship to. Michigan is one of them, I've looked into it. Apparently the mix of the stuff doesn't meet the safety requirements we have here. I've toyed with the idea of getting some at an out of state convention, but I'd rather just carry their legal knives here.
Feel free to correct me on anything that I have said.

Since most pepper sprays tend to leak if left in hot cars and since it can only be shipped HAZMAT it makes it a bit rough to sell.
The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.

I have to agree with that. Only once in my life have I had to use Pepper Spray (it was SABRE as the Inferno cannot be purchased here in Europe) and the other tool in my pockets at that time was a C Voyager.
I couldn't run away in that situation (I was indoors) and the Spray made a mess in the walls, floor, doors and even affected me, but was successful in stopping the aggression and much better option than having used a knife.

It's a great product, and it's sad if CS is discontinuing them as I've seen its effectiveness in YT videos and tests.
CS makes very good non lethal weapons (plastic trainers, bokkens, grivory defensive tools, kubatons, pens...) and the spray seemed to fit quite well in that "defensive tools" category
