Looking good.
Anyone else thinking of stepping up for this one?

Holy crap fortytwo! It actually took me a second to figure out what was custom since the handles the same and the finish is still there, then I saw it and bricks were shat. That is freaking awesome

Hee hee thanks! I've done TONS of machete mods, just most of them just haven't been on CS pieces. I figure a production version is probably somewhere down the pipeline--and if it isn't it should be!

i think that machetes are so utilitarian that no one bothers to modify them in crafty manners so as to be fit for a competition. IMO

42, have you considered shortening the handle? It would be an awesome economy arming/short sword.

I actually sold it, so it's no longer in my possession. If I had shortened it I would have had to grind the handle width down, as the top of the handle was too thick for my rather small hands.

Besides--that's what the Gladius Machete is for!

42 Blades, your machete reminds me of an Assegai, a Gladius, and a viking sword. it looks like it will pierce very severely and still cut and slice very well. I would buy one if Cold Steel made them. Shoot i would buy if you made it yourself.

It IS sort of a Euro-Nagamaki, isn't it?

if I didn't work two jobs and go to grad school I'd take the time to do the ideas I have in my head but right now there's just no time.

Euro-Nagamaki

It is called a glaive.

Nah--a glaive was more like a single-edged sword blade on a spear shaft. The nagamaki had pretty close to an equal handle-to-blade length ratio.

Why is the contest only for current production models?

In the spirit of fairness?  CS has made so many different models it would make judging kinda tough.  Because who gives a crap about a Latin machete next to an equally pimped Kopis?  I'd like to enter my bowie... but all I've done is sharpen it.  I'd like to do more, but it's a great machete already.

Clean job on the 2HKM 42blades.  Good luck!

Thats me.  Well I don't have any CS machetes.  The machetes I do have are garden tools I never considered modding.   But I mean that I leave all my CS pretty much as is.   My Laredo I put a small notch on one side of the guard so I can tell which way is up in the dark.  And I extended the choil slightly so my forefinger will fit in it.  Neither would even be noticeable in a photo.
I have considered rehandleing something like the OSI.  But decided I had just as soon start from scratch and make the blade too.   Or wait till a handle gets damaged on one of my CS blades and then rehandle it.  Can't see taking a perfectly good handle off.  It would be like removing a perfectly good appendix.

Still I really enjoy seeing other folks mods.

Nice handle wrap! I wonder how the wood was added to the sheath, though--it mostly looks stock, but...?

Kinda of in a pinch for this contest. I've got a spear point and a sax machete but since they're not current can't post 'em for the contest. My 2h katana  is the only one I can use but haven't done anything other than the handle.Hmmmmmm
