Very cool little knife, I love mine, and after I had a custom sheath made for it it became twice as useful.
Carbon V is just great steel, make sure to keep the blade greasy though!

Yea man awesome find!! I think your right with that Master Hunter being an older release looking at the box it came in! Not to mention it looks mint!! No doubt you got it for a decent price too. And I agree with Philwar about keeping it greased I just took one of my Carbon V blades out of a sheath yesterday and there was some rust forming on the edge so I tried taking some Flitz polish to it but its still slightly visible. I've been using Rem oil but seems to dry up after like a week. Often the knives come with a thicker grease on the edge of the blades does anyone know what that is and where can I find some?

Can I take the Red Caution Tag off? Hah! Just kidding man. When I buy old Carbon V Trailmasters taking that red tag off is always the toughest part!

Very nice finds!

Get the blade warm, not hot (hair dryer) and rub turtle wax on it a few times.

Thanks D!  And all of you!  Def. one of the cooler "real user" knives I've ever owned.  The weight and blade thickness are highlights for sure, perfect grip length too.  My addiction has become Carbon V..

1095 with a good HT is a dreamsteel, despite the fact that it's such a simple steel. Carbon V has a few extra alloying metals in it (I think Chrome and Vanadium) that give it something extra. Carbon V also had a great HT, and all this combined to create a steel that was tough, hard, had good edge retention, was easy to sharpen, it was/is a very good carbon steel.
It will rust on you like there is no tomorrow though!

I do keep a bit of oil on my satin Carbon V blades.  The LTC has that nice, black coating,  as does the Peace Keeper, so I don't really oil them.

Get Mike Sastre to make a sheath for it. It will be a dream carry!
I used mine while duck hunting in a salt chuck. Talk about rust forming as I looked on! I now grease it up with vaseline. Works great.

Great find by the way.
