10" gurkha kukri knife - Thursday, July 01, 2010 2:21 PM
I have a 10", get that, ten inch, gurhka kukri, it has the stamp of the US Bando assn on the blade, as the larger Kukri's do.   It is also marked on the end of the handle with a "2" and indicates it is a second.  So I bought it on Ebay 5 years ago as a second from production for $20.  So when did Cold Steel make this version, does anyone else have one.  I actually really like the size, it is very handy for a tool and weapon.  feed back please.
Hope for the best, prepare for the worst. Semper Fi

Yea I have a small 10 inch blade 14 1/2 overall Cold steel Kukri. Its acually called the Mini kukri released a while ago now. I love the thing it came with a nice'en small leather sheath. it goes like this......  Gurkha Kukri Carbon v which is the version they still sell today but now in Sk-5 high carbon I'm almost positive the kukri we are disscussing is made out of Carbon V steel. Then comes the Gurkha light Kukri which is the same length as its big brother but a different thickness, blade grind (Saber)? and weight. Then the Gurkha kukri Mini is what has the ten inch blade and the same grind and thickness as the light. Then there is the once released LTC Kukri in two blade grinds that I have seen and finally the long discontinued All Terrain Chopper which I do not have but there is one on ebay right now 7/4/10 for $300 bucks.

But as far as the Gurkha Kukri Mini goes I love the thing. I have yet to use it cause they are hard to come by. Cool fact... all three of the kukris except the ltc will fit nicly into the kydex sheath now being relesed with the SK 5 kukris. When I get some time I'll tke some pics and post them.
Happy 4th people and Long Live Freedom!

cool info, mine does say carbon V on the one side, under the words cold steel,  I got mine used on ebay about 5 or so years ago, used it on the farm I use to work on and around the house.  I have recently cleaned and sharpened it back to hair shaving sharp, and paired it up with my 12" barong machete, in a survival/bob kit.  I love it just realized one day, "I have not seen this knife for sale..anywhere."   will post picks. here's a vid from my youtube, at about 3 minutes you can see the kukri.

I have to say I really like that 10" kukri, very nice. I would like to see a chopping comparison of the smaller kukri vs a LTC kukri.

Nice collection!
So, you're just missing the ATC and HTC?  I just acquired a used ATC.

Thanks man! Your right on me needing those choppers to complete my kukri collection. Also I have seen the LTC in two blade grinds the one I do not have being the Saber grind I think like what is on the Light and the Mini Gurkha Kukri's. Awsome grab by the way on the All Terrian Chopper! Did you pick it up from ebay? How does it handle is it mean or what? Teh HTC must be a beast hahaha!

I actually don't have an HTC, but I figure it's just a bit larger than the LTC with the same blade width.

This is my second ATC, the first one was mint, so I sold it on ebay.  This used one I purchased recently, it's prolly a keeper, the same dimensions as the LTC, just twice as thick.  I'm thinking to get it convexed as others did on another forum for superb chopping results.

The mini-gurk is very scarce, I rarely see them at all, same as the ATC.
There is one on ebay right now, I watched the price jump last night from $62 to $262 and it's only in ok/fair condition with no box, so it must be in demand...?

I have 2 LTC's, one used, one BNIB, both Saber grinds (I think this is the better grind for chopping, hence why I'm getting the ATC changed up).

I'm looking at the large SK-5 version.  I just picked up an R1 that has a slightly reworked handle but a mint blade with a nicely aged sheath for 80 bucks.  So maybe set for now but that big ass kukuri surely is talking to me.  keepem sharp

That mini-gurk ebay listing I posted ended for over $400..!  Pretty steep considering the blade condition was very well used.  Impressive.

Alright man here ya go! I see those blanks on ebay all the time at a low cost... I'd like to learn how to work with them what do you use mainly to form the knife blade grinder with different grit belts?

Overall 14 5/8" inches
Blade 9 1/2" inches
Spine Thickness 2/16ths of an inch
Weight 13.9 oz
At the blades belly it is 2 & 1/16" wide
and where the tang comes out of the handle is exactly 4 cm

Hey thanks maan..  Yeah, I'll prolly go the grinder route, it will be my first, so I don't really know what the hell I'm doing, haha.

Yea I hear ya man.. How great would it be if L.T. released a new Mini Light Gurkha Kukri in San Mai! Wow that would be a keeper... I'm starting to breath heavy Hahah Can we do a pole, How does that work and have they ever brought back a knife or taken suggestions from the forum members? I want one badly, it would most likely have to be a little thicker than the original version. Do custom makers work in stainless steels?
