How to make your own blowgun darts.
You will need paper, scissors, nail and tape. Make a cone and glue with the tape. Insert the nail and tape it also. Trim the end of dart to fit properly in the tube. Put some silicon glue in the cone to get some weight and to glue nail ones more. All darts should have the same weight.

I would try to avoid rusted nails, but that's just me. Happy hunting, and be sure to post pics of any game you bag with those darts!

I have made a discovery, 12 to 14 gauge wire nuts will fit the bore of CS blowguns better than CS cones do. now, maybe I'm a day late and a dollar short on this and people already know but i havent seen it mentioned. Bamboo darts with these cones appear to be twice as fast and definatly have more downrange penetration and power. so do the mini broad heads. I've lost a couple of the mini broad head in my archery target because of these wire nuts, the cones came off and the darts kept going so there buried in the target. I was shooting from about 40 feet or so. The two types of darts shot a flatter, faster trajectory. I think with these for cones the home made wood darts would be a lot more effective hunting darts. Theres not a lot of room in the bore for air to escape around the wire nut, when I looked to compare the two there was a lot more daylight with the CS cones than the wire nuts.

Could someone in a free state try something out for me?  See if it's possible to attach and coil up some light weight fishing line in the base of one of these wirenut darts.  See if it will still fly straight with a teather?  I've always wanted to try out a harpoon dart since most regular darts don't kill small game all that quickly.

That's a stroke of genius.  Another one of those "why didn't I think of that" ideas.  Way to go man!
I was wondering about filling the wire nut with something heavy and using it as a stun dart but your idea blows mine away.  I'll try both.  Keep that brain working!

Another little bit of input about the wire caps is, you can heat up small head roofing nails and using a small round magnet like a pick up tool magnet, and you can push the nail through the wire cap. When cooled, sharpen tip, and you can fill the cap with hot glue for added weight or drop in small split shot weights or some bird shot and hot glue for even heavier darts. I use these with my paintball gun powered blow gun and they hit hard.

Also, I used braided fishing line for a smaller diameter with added strength, and this works well, just haven't used them for hunting, but for spear fishing it works ok, if you design or solder a barb in the shaft, otherwise the dart pulls out pretty easy, so I assume it may on small game as well. Just an opinion.

I been making these darts out of bamboo skewers and wine corks.. they have a real tribal feel when u create them haha.  Just drilll a hole down the cork, cut and file cork to bore size, insert bamboo with a little glue and sharpen it up.  I find they perform better when u get better at making them.. a few tips: Try and get your cork to seal the bore just right, give them a little cone shape too. Hand straighten the shafts often as needed. The top dart is about the size of the cold steel bamboo darts, the second is a larger bamboo skewer, and the third i got a little fancy and attached a broadhead to it.  Cut em out of spring steel, split the shaft, knotch the tip, then secure with thread.

I've also made stun type darts out of little novelty glass corked bottles. Just attach a bore sized stopper to the bottle stopper, and use your imagination with what to put in it.  A simpler one i use on the nuisance dogs is take a single, 1 ply sheet of toilet paper, dump about a 1/2 teaspoon of cayenne pepper in it and tie it up with thread or a slim cut piece of tape. Gently stuff it in the blowgun, don't want it to tear yet. Fun Fun.

Most of my homemade darts have paper cones on them. After taping and trimming to fit I usually shoot them with a little bit of clear coat to strengthen and water proof them a bit. Dollar store hacksaw blades make good broad heads and if you're good you can solder or braze them to a piece of coat hanger wire. Cheap expandable arrow heads fit the tube really nice. Haven't had a chance to test one on a live target but they do open up on foam targets. Looking forward to trying the wire nuts out for sure.

Nice little homemade broadhead.  I guess since CS has apparently stopped offering the razor tip broadheads we're gonna all have to start making our own.

And here is one of mine: I make my darts with paper cone and bamboo, but I cover the cone with no breakable duct tape...
