I can't imagine being caught with just one of anything. But if it had to be just one of the CS blades I own, I would probably go with the Kukri Machete. I don't have a SF Shovel  yet, but I would certainly give it strong consideration.

If you have a good cutting tool you can make a lot of the stuff you forgot to pack. I have found that in camp I can do more small blade stuff with a large blade than I can do large blade stuff with a small blade, but any blade is better than no blade at all.

I'd love to have a Special Forces Shovel.

Hefty enough to cut down a tree, also good as an emergency weapon. Pretty light, and digging holes with it would be pretty easy, incase I need to make traps or reach water underground, or filter water using a hole method. Could also be useful for building a wilderness camp by digging a trench and covering with foliage.

Just send me Lynn Thompson!

Joking aside, my favorite CS item in a survival situation would be a fusion of a knife, a machete and a spear.  So I would choose the Bowie Blade Bushman.

I'll say my trail hawk for sure but it's a close call between that and the Bowie machete.

the latin is a good one,

the heavy is strong

the barong is quite versatile

but i think the one that have all those quality would be the kukri but the heavy is also my choice.

The bushman, war hammer, or grosse messer.

The versatility of the bushman could help me adapt to any situation.
The war hammer could break branches and defend me from any threat.
The grosse messer could chop anything to make useful tools and shelter out of.

I'd also take my bushman since it is large enough for all survival tasks and can be made into a spear. Most importantly it is tough as nails and can easily handle batoning, chopping, hacking, and what have you.

If I was caught in a survival situkation, I guess I would have my SRK and a good pocket knife.

That's easy:  Trail Master Bowie.  To my mind, it's the ultimate do-it-all knife if you could only have one.  I could build shelters, skin game, make tools, cut firewood, and if I ran really low on bullets I could fight with it.

Whenever I venture way out into the big wilderness areas in this part of the country, I take my Trail Master.

Bush Ranger for me, it has a good mid sized blade for food prep or defence. Light weight, razor sharp, and a damn fine looking knife.

In real survival situation I would like having with me  a CS trailmaster or a kukry because of their strong and versatile blade design. Maybe I favor a little bit more  the Trailmaster but only because I work with all days in my garden (four acres in the mountins near Naples, Italy ) but you can bet your life on both.

I would have a bowie bushman because of its light weight, tough sk-5 steel, it's sheath pocket and I would carry it. I would keep an nail in the pocket in the sheath so i could attach it to a short stick and make a machete/short spear. The thin blade is more than capable of getting to dry wood. The pocket can fit a variety of things like fire starter and a small sharpening steel.

I agree with Al, there is no doubt in my mind,I would take my cs san mai trail master. There is few things that a large knife cannot do,and many things that a small knife cannot do. Every survival manual that I have read always stated that you never strap a knife on to a spear shaft,as you can easily lose or break your knife(the only exception to this would be the cs bushman, which is purpose built for this)Fire harden the sharpened spear tip, as the australian aboriginal have been doing for 40 000years.
I really dislike these limiting survival questions,as I have 2 hands and would always want to be equipped with a minimum of 2 sharpened bits of steel,I'm thinking the classic bowie knife/tomahawk combo as perfect.Besides I always take my survival hydration kit,san mai trail master and fusion tactical hawk(soon to be a cs trench hawk,as soon as they are avaliable) with me when ever I leave the city limits.

I would have to pick the Kukri as well. Fire is a priority as well as shelter , espescially in this area with all the rainfall. That tool is capable of getting kindling, building a trash hut, and later to build fishing and trapping tools. As mentioned earlier, the best tool is the one that you use, so it becomes  very personal choice. If a person is more comfortable with a machete or tomahawk, then it only makes sence that would be the thier choice.
 Just my 2 cents...

as cliche as I might sound amongst all of these great reasons why, I would pick a Kukri or Tanto, even if they were 1055 steel or Aus8, because i would be able to depend on either of them for any reason whatsoever.

just being able to solve situations with a nice thick blade sounds wonderful.

well,
I'd most likely get caught out with a GI tanto. That is my 'planned' trail running mountain lion insurance.

If I could choose, though, I would go with a Kukri machete.

I would have to say my Bushman(with supplies in the handle) as well as my Large PE clip point voyager. Always have these in the woods and never a chore that they couldn't handle!!

Trail Master all the way. Either Carbon V or SMIII. Large, incredibly sharp blade to take care of all your needs.

Its hard to answer that question because depends on region....I have been part and partial to the Trail master for its Girth, Durability, Edge holding...but then there is the Recon...same as last but better animal care/field stripping...but weaker chopper...........but my Final Answer!...............I would have to go with the outdoorsman...But I'm old fashion and would like it with Carbon V

Now that I have had a chance to use it for a couple of days, and IF only limited to ONE, I would have to say one of the Rajah folders. They are alot of knife and I believe could handle just about anything I would need to do....period!

Wilderness survival?  Custom bushman, no question.  Heavily chord wrapped handle grip lightly corked on either end.  A small supply of water purifying powder, fire steel and a small sharpening stick inside   I haven't had it long enough to pimp out yet, so I'm not positive really... a small amount of antibiotic and a few band aids too.  A good survivalists sheath would increse the useable space in the handle.  Some zip ties and a few rubber band or two.  There are alot of things you could pack in it.

If I were allowed only one Cold Steel product for a survival situation it would be my Trail Master San Mai III Bowie.  As previous posters have pointed out it is a versatile tool capable of chopping, skinning, cutting and slashing.  It is not over bearingly big and handles well.

I would lean heavily on a kukuri as it is a very versatile tool but it would be close as to whether I would choose a trail master.

i'd say either a bowie bushmaster or a kukri machete. the kukri is an amazing knife for many purposes, but the bowie can become a spear. though i guess if you do find a stick that could be used as a spear you could just use the kukri to sharpen the tip. i'm going with the kukri machete.
